Testimony Challenges

I don’t know about you but when I first sat down to consider my testimony; I didn’t know where to start. Not only did I dislike public speaking but I also didn’t feel like anything that I could say, would really mean anything to anyone else. Nor did I know enough doctrine to back any of it up. None of those excuses stopped the nudging to give one though. So I knew that it was finally time to do it.

Starting your testimony can be a difficult challenge. The devil wants you to second guess anything and everything that you might use to to glorify God's kingdom. If you have one foot on the power of God and one foot second guessing your ability to share it, you might hold back. So maybe the tips below will help you when you start feeling that nudge for yourself.

Challenge Yourself

If you’re still trying to figure out how to have a testimony or what to say, create some challenges for yourself. Here are some suggestions:
  1. With Christmas approaching what better gift can you give him than to completely focus this season on why you love God, how you know he’s real and what awes you about him. Then share it with someone.
  2. If you’re in a church or Sunday School Class, ask if you can share it with the group by a certain time. Better yet, see if you can’t get others to do it with you.
  3. Start writing about it now. Then keep it in your wallet and pray for someone to share it with.
  4. If there are questions that you’re afraid someone will ask you; start writing down what some of them are. Pick three and commit to a time period to get those answers.
  5. Accept every challenge to talk about God that is presented.
  6. Simply start looking for ways to insert him.
  7. Here is a Bible Study on the book of John. This particular study has worksheets to help you write your own testimony. It will help guide you through the process.
